Comment: This jaw-droppingly handsome antique French Brittany server sideboard is lavishly carved all over including lively depictions of French country folk going about their daily life. Crafted in rich chestnut wood and dating to around 1890, the heavily carved antique server sideboard was made in France in the traditional Brittany style. As a fitting crown to the server sideboard, an ornate carved crest gives the piece a bold silhouette, flanked with two reclining male figures who look like they are playing a flute or Celtic pipes. As your eye moves down the sideboard, you notice two carved figures, a man and a woman, serving as the support posts for the upper shelf. Take a close look at the craftsmanship in those hand-carvings. The faces and the traditional country clothing are all detailed and impressively realistic. The doors on the lower cabinet are also carved with a male on one side and a woman on the other. Ship wheel motifs represent Brittanys maritime history. As well as looking amazing and bringing lots of warm and friendly character into your home, the antique Brittany server sideboard is a practical storage and serving piece, with its cabinet and drawer space.
