Vintage Console Table: Renaissance
Our customers Mary and Phil returned to our EuroLux antiques store in Newberry to pick out a vintage console table to go beneath a hand-painted antique trumeau mirror that Mary had found at an auction house. The couple had previously bought an antique buffet from us and a pair of Italian floor lamps for their beautiful chateau style home. You can check it out in my previous blog post: Client Spotlight: Antique French Country Louis XVI Buffet.
We were very happy to revisit their home to deliver the console table they chose. Here is the front of the house. We certainly admired the gorgeous stone exterior. The photo doesn't actually give a sense of how large the interior space is. Much like a French chateau, Phil and Mary have built a labyrinth into the side of a hill and this photo only shows the second and third stories. The entire lower level is built into the hillside.
The Vintage Console Table in Action
Here is the French Renaissance style vintage console table or sideboard that the couple chose for their entryway home decor. They bought it from us to go beneath the very large, antique, hand-painted trumeau mirror that Mary discovered at an auction house. The mirror still needs to be hung, but we propped it up on the console table just to get the effect and to snap a photo. The ceilings are so high. I captured just a bit of the beautiful antique wrought iron fixture hanging above it.
A piece like this could be a great fit in your home too. You could use a quality wood console table like this as an end table, hall table, or even nightstand. With a solid wood, vintage style console table, any room can be enhanced. We can see how well it works with antique decor. It would also work with Mid-Century Modern and Art Deco styles, if you'd like to see your new tabletop in a modern setting. We could even see using this wooden console as an entry table or entryway table.
Lovely Interior Design
With your back to the console table, you look through another arch into the dining room. Diners will be able to see themselves in the trumeau while enjoying Phil and Mary's hospitality! Mary had just hung the handsome and huge antique iron chandelier over the antique dining table. A pair of antique hunting paintings and antique Louis XV sconces add to the feel of the chateau. The carvings on the console table work well with the heavily carved antique Renaissance dining room chairs. The chairs are scheduled for re-upholstery with new fabric soon. One chair is lying on the floor in the photo as Phil asked for our instruction on how to tighten the joints of all of the chairs. This is a dynamic DIY duo for sure!
Antique and Vintage Decor Done Right
During the tour of their lovely home, I couldn't resist snapping a photo of Mary's amazing soaking tub. I am truly jealous of that tub!
During this second delivery, Phil mentioned that he was now searching for a pair of thrones. We've sent photos by email and hope we'll be delivering the antique hunting thrones soon so that we can take more photos of this amazing chateau that Phil and Mary have built with such love and dedication. Meanwhile, the vintage console table has found the perfect home! If you're looking for antique console tables, we've got those too. Whether you're looking for 19th century side tables or 20th century coffee tables, lacquered bookcases and more, EuroLuxHome.com has the furniture for you.
