Producing fine furniture crafted from beautiful mahogany woods, Niagara Furniture is named after the place where the company founders grew up in Canada. The two friends who started the company met when they both worked in the antique business, and their love of historical furniture design encouraged them to start their own furniture company. The result is a handsome collection of antique-inspired mahogany wood furniture for the living room, dining room, bedroom and hallway, as well as pieces for the office including desks and bookcases.
Many designs are based on antique originals or are inspired by the finest period furniture. For example, you will find furniture based on the supremely elegant designs of Thomas Chippendale, Thomas Sheraton, and George Hepplewhite. These three ground-breaking English furniture makers were the leading names in the Georgian era of the late 1700s and their classical designs have as much appeal today as they did when the furniture masters revealed them to a waiting world more than two centuries ago.
Niagara Furniture is crafted to a very high quality and it is mostly made with solid mahogany wood as well as delectably decorative mahogany wood veneers. The rich appearance, handsome graining and substantial feel of mahogany wood enhances the traditional feel of these superb pieces. Mahogany is perfectly authentic for this historically inspired furniture as it was often used to make the original antiques. It is a strong tropical hardwood that can stand up to the heavy carving and detailed piercing that is typical in many Niagara Furniture pieces. The craftsmen add much hand-crafted detail to the chairs, tables, sideboards, cabinets and other items, including hand carvings and hand-piercing.
The company uses sustainably grown mahogany from a plantation in Indonesia, ensuring that you can feel good about the environmental-friendliness of the mahogany wood furniture as well as enjoy the visual pleasure of seeing it in your home.
