Comment:Take a close look at the heavily carved detail on this fabulous antique French Brittany armoire to get a sense of the impressive craftsmanship. The tableau of two country folk is especially outstanding, showing a man meeting up with his lady friend who carries a basket on her arm, all set in an intricately detailed rustic setting with a house in the background. Other heavily carved features include rows of flowers or rosettes which create decorative appeal as well as an ornately textured look. A carved face also peers out from the center top of the cabinet. Crafted in rich and beautifully aged chestnut wood, the armoire dates to circa 1880 and it was crafted in France in the traditional Brittany style. You will find plenty of storage space inside the large antique armoire, with its cupboard shelves as well as handsomely carved drawers. The long rectangular mirror is set to one side of this armoire which adds to the design interest. This amazing antique Brittany armoire will look superb in your bedroom and bring real character to your space, but you might find it hard to keep to yourself, so perhaps you will show it off to guests by placing it in your hallway or dining room as a linen closet.
