Comment:
The whimsical carved jester or joker figures on this exceptional antique French Renaissance buffet will add plenty of merry character to your home and will bring a smile to the face of everyone who sees them. The walnut wood buffet was carved in France around the year 1900 and although it is magnificent from top to toe, it is the pair of playful jesters that add the design signature to this piece. The two carved figures of jesters or jokers serve as the support posts for the upper hutch, and they seem to be having a very jolly time doing their job! They are so beautifully carved that you can see the detail on their costumes and the merry expressions on their faces. Carved swirls and foliage across the front of the cabinet are typical of the French Renaissance style of antique furniture and they add to the decorative appeal. With five doors, two drawers and a plate rack, this outstanding heirloom antique French buffet or server provides plenty of storage space too.
