A wonderful Antique Armoire Storage Display Cabinet Wardrobe in elm dating to 1880 from the Shanxi Province in China and featuring ornate carvings of flowers and birds in the decorative trim around the top open space. The lotus flower finials are a special, symbolic detail signifying spring and rebirth on this round cornered Antique Chinese Display Cabinet. The open top area of this Antique Chinese Cabinet allows space to display your collections or to act as a dresser area for perfumes, a jewelry box, loose change or keys. The bottom area is very useful for storing clothes or linens. This Antique Chinese Armoire is highly functional and practical, as well as beautiful. Long ago, woodworkers used a method known as pima hui, where a thick layer of linen and clay was placed over the wood prior to the lacquer finish in order to protect the wood. As this special finish ages, the clay begins to slide and causes a leather-like appearance to the original lacquer, which just adds to the beauty of this Antique Chinese Cabinet. This Antique Chinese Wardrobe was found in an abandoned building that was to undergo demolition in Shanxi Province, and now would make a charming addition to your collection.
