Comment: This very substantial antique French Renaissance table in the Hunting style dates to 1880 and it was crafted by master craftsmen in France in oak wood. The slightly off-round or oval table top rests on a center pedestal which is lavishly carved with leaves and also with the faces of wild beasts or animals of the forests. These animal carvings are like stylized masks, making them exceptionally fine and a wonderful addition to your Hunting style or Traditional dining rom. The carvings also make this table, which is a direct import from France, a superb example of the French Hunting style that was originally made popular by King Francis I as he decorated his royal hunting lodges. The table is also carved with an attractive repeat pattern on the table top rim to add yet more visual interest. The oak wood has a lovely patina from around 140 years of life, and every inch of this table has a story to tell. The antique French Renaissance Hunting style table will be a delightful addition to your home, adding much character to your decor.
