What Bookcases are Available?

You've got options. Our pieces are made from quality wood such as solid oak. An antique oak bookshelf is always a sturdy piece. A walnut bookcase or mahogany bookcase will have the same effect. Other solid wood used includes rosewood and satinwood.

Some of these pieces have glass doors, using leaded glass and stained glass to display your storage space and use it as a display cabinet.

We featured one bookcase that stood out to us on our blog. You can check out that post here, and witness this lovely piece of craftsmanship for yourself!

English Bookcases

Many of our bookcases are crafted in luxury English styles, such as Victorian, Regency or Georgian. Many of these were made circa 1900, and are sure to bring antique class to your home.

Mid-Century Modern

If you're in the market for a quality vintage bookshelf, then the Mid-Century Modern style is for you.

In terms of shelving, some of our bookcases feature adjustable shelves, a practical shelving unit that is flexible to your needs. We imagine one of these as a library bookcase, or as a way to display your favorite arts and crafts.

Built to Last

These freestanding pieces of furniture are built to last a lifetime. Each wood bookcase is made from quality materials such as antique mahogany, oak, and more. You can tell just by the pictures that these pieces look great. But durability is also important, and that's what this furniture provides to your space. Just imagine how lovely this will look displaying your book collection or other valuables!

Other Bookcase Options

If antique bookshelves aren't your speed, and you're like something in the mid-century or mid-century modern style, we have a wide selection of vintage bookcases available as well.  These are sure to bring a retro style to any space. The mid-19th century was a great time in furniture, with timeless style that still looks great to this very day. We think these would look great in your home office as a practical piece of office furniture, with open shelves on the vintage style bookcase that give it a practical use.

Whether you're looking for a Victorian, Antique French, Solid Mahogany, or Oak bookcase, EuroLuxHome.com has the pieces to meet your needs. From étagères to display collectibles, or a bookcases cabinet for even more storage, we've got you covered.

Bookcases FAQ

01 Is there a difference between a bookcase and bookshelf?

A bookcase is a closed-sided unit that literally encases books and is intended to be placed on the floor, whereas a bookshelf does not have encased ends and is intended to be hung on the wall. Bookcases are more traditional than bookshelves, and they are frequently used as permanent recessed fixtures in homes.

02 How tall should a bookshelf be?

Books should be displayed at a height of about 10 inches, while periodicals should be displayed at a height of around 11-12 inches. A bookcase's top shelf should be no more than 72-78 inches height.

03 How should I organize my bookshelves?

One-third books, one-third accessories, and one-third free space per shelf is the fundamental rule of thumb for designing bookshelves. Fill the bottom shelf with identical boxes or baskets if you're low on storage. To achieve both balance and spontaneity, arrange 60 percent of the books vertically and 40 percent horizontally.

04 Where should bookshelves be placed?

One of the most typical places for a bookcase is behind your sofa, against the wall. This space-saving method looks stunning and adds a lot of visual appeal to a room at first glance, which is especially excellent if you live in a small apartment or house.

05 What is a standard bookshelf size?

Bookcases are typically no higher than 84 inches to allow for easy shelf access. Small bookcases typically range in height from 30 to 42 inches. The tallest shelf in a bookshelf should be 72 to 78 inches high, or as high as an average-sized person can easily reach.
