Aubusson means "tapestry".
There are certain styles that transcend furniture. As furniture specialists, we at EutoLuxHome.com understand the importance of adding decor outside of seating, tables and more. Other decor options can include anything from lighting to area rugs to wall art and more.
One of our favorite of these decor styles is the French Aubusson style of textile art. These colorful pieces of decor are a delightful addition to any space. With a wide selection of color schemes and patterns available, you're sure to be able to find something that matches your existing room setup. Our selection of these Aubusson designs and floor coverings is immense, so browse today!
This style originated in France around the 17th century and 18th century. However, it continued to rise in popularity through the 19th century to the present day! What does this mean? It means that no matter how much styles have changed over the years, there is still a desire for this enticing home decor. An Aubusson rug or Aubusson tapestry is truly one of the most interesting European designs, defined by intricate designs such as floral patterns, acanthus leaves, and floral bouquets. The handwoven tapestry technique used to create pieces in this style takes a master craftsman to create, so each of these pieces is sure to be of the highest quality, whether a floor or wall hanging piece.
The technique used by the craftsmen at their needlepoint is immaculate. A quality Aubusson carpet will make you feel as though you're living in Aquitaine or Central France during the Renaissance. Our selection gives you lots of options. Maybe a newer piece, such as a modern Aubusson runner is what your home needs. We also offer older pieces that have withstood the test of time. These include antique French Aubusson rugs. The pastel colors used in these pieces means they can fit almost anywhere. We'd recommend using them in your living room or dining room, to help set the mood while you enjoy the company of guests!
Regardless of your home decor tastes, one thing is certain: the Aubusson style brings a unique flair to any space. We also offer a wide selection of other products, if tapestries and carpets aren't your style. From neoclassical furniture to Persian and Oriental rugs and everything in between, we are dedicated to bringing you the finest interior design pieces on the market.
Aubusson means "tapestry".
Aubusson has been known for its carpet and tapestry production since at least the 16th century.
Workshops were founded in 1743 to make pile carpets for the nobility, who did not have access to the Savonnerie court manufacturing. However, Aubusson carpets were also manufactured for royal houses.
Many of the early Aubussons were based on Oriental motifs, some of which looked like Ushak medallion carpets. The Savonnerie's taste quickly shifted to a variety of Renaissance floral and architectural motifs, which continued to represent court and republican fashions.
Aubusson rugs were designed to be pieces of art as well as floor coverings, and were typically room-sized. Ivory, light blue, and rose were frequently used as color palettes. Architectural details, floral embellishments, and geometric patterns were common in the patterns.
