3 Generations - Elsie, Aimee and Olivia
My beloved Grandmother, Elsie, is a hoot. I had no idea how hilarious she is while I was growing up. She was just my grandma, whom I loved very much.
As an adult, I came to see my grandmother in an entirely different light!
She is quite the ham and wonderful at telling funny stories, which we’ve all heard many, many times, but I still love to hear them. She has even been known to hang from trees and wear Rasta hats as you'll see in this blog post where Elsie shared her Oyster Stew recipe.
My family threw a 90th birthday party for her earlier this year, and of course Greg and I made the trek to Maryland to join the festivities.
My cousin, Kara, made the charming birthday cake and included a photo of Grandma that I had never seen before! This is the photo of Grandma Elsie – known affectionately by her family as “Peach”, at the age of 9 years old.
I had never before seen a photo of my grandmother as a child! I was suddenly struck by how much my niece, Olivia, resembled Grandma and made a note to myself to dig out photos when I got home. However, what really knocked my socks off when I finally did get around to digging out old photos was how much I too resembled Grandma! Here are photos of me at 9 years old – don’t you think I look just like her?
I have to admit that I was quite a precocious child and got into a good bit of trouble. So now I know how I’ll look at 90 – pretty great! I hope I’m at least half as fun.
And here are a couple photos of my brother’s daughters, Olivia and Genevieve, when Olivia was 9 years old. You can definitely see who she looks like too!
Olivia can be quite the jokester in her own right...
... so it looks like Grandma’s lively personality will carry on for another generation too!
Aren't I lucky? Who do you resemble in your family? We'd love to hear your comments in the comment box!
