5 Interior Design and Decorating Websites We Love
Like you, I'm always on the prowl for design inspiration. Especially now that we're renovating a classic bungalow, I love finding websites I can rely on for home decorating information and style inspiration! Here are five sites we love right now.
1. Houzz
With photos of literally thousands of professionally designed rooms as well as amateur interior designs, Houzz covers all the home decorating bases. Whether your style runs from shabby or cottage to Victorian revival to modern/contemporary, Houzz will get your creative juices flowing!
2. Elle Decor
I love this venerable home decorating magazine and website because of its breadth. Sure, a lot of the designs covered in Elle Decor run on the high end, but anyone can take those designs and recreate them with a mixture of fine antiques and affordable (yet high-quality) reproduction pieces. Check out their current slideshow on Valentine's Day Decor, including the red bedroom shown here.
3. Eddie Ross
An alumnus of Bravo's "Top Design" program, interior designer Eddie Ross maintains a wonderful blog that covers great breadth in styles. I especially love Eddie's "Before and After" category, which takes the reader through an entire process of designing and decorating a room. Plus, Eddie's site is chockablock with mouth-watering design photos. What's not to love?
4. Apartment Therapy
"Saving the world, one room at a time" since 2007, Apartment Therapy now covers a wide array of interior design and home decorating beyond just apartments. For your cabin, cottage, or home, Apartment Therapy offers design inspiration from do-it-yourself projects to small-space design. This lovely room from Apartment Therapy's Pinterest page illustrates a creative way to display antique plates.
5. The Shabby Nest
If your taste leans toward chic design that maintains its shabby style, this blog is for you! This blog contains a lot of do-it-yourself decorating projects (like this pallet sign), including how to repurpose or upcycle antique and vintage finds.
