Paint Color Decor Trends: Nautical Greens and Blues

For paint color trends, many of the big paint companies have opted for beautiful nautical greens and bold blues as wall as cooler blues. These colors that have been chosen as Colors of the Year will look terrific in a nautical style decor or for a beach or coastal home, as you can see from the photos below. Of course, nobody is going to redecorate just to be fashionable with the new paint color trends! But as blue and green are always popular paint colors, it's interesting to see these rich shades to check out if they might shake up some of our home decor ideas!

Sherwin Williams Oceanside

Sherwin-Williams selected Oceanside as their Color of the Year. This is  lovely jeweled  blue with a hint of green. This marine blue green would obviously look terrific in a coastal home or in any interior design scheme that has a nautical or beech feel. It would work with any kind of home decor style, from a cozy Traditional library to a Mid-Century Modern living room to a Mediterranean style dining room or Contemporary bedroom. Dunn_Edwards_The Green Hour Dunn-Edwards also opted for a moody shade of blue-green called The Green Hour as its Color of the Year. This cozy tone will work well in an Art Deco home, according to Dunn-Edwards, and they recommend pairing it with typical Art Deco contrast tones such as rose pink and light cool gray. For a Craftsman era look, the contrast tones would be chocolate brown, beige, mustard or rust. Behr In the Moment paint Behr chose a lighter and cooler shade of greenish spruce blue in its Color of the Year: In the Moment. This refined but relaxed color looks very versatile for a room where you want a hint of color without feeling overwhelmed by it. It creates a serene look. Again, it would look terrific in a nautical style decor or for a breezy coastal look. Pratt and Lambert Paint Heron Pratt & Lambert Paints announced Heron as the brand's Color of the Year. This is a deep midnight blue, intended to inspire a sense of tranquility and sanctuary. It makes quite a statement, so some people would prefer to keep it for an accent wall or perhaps to paint an alcove or other architectural detail. A crisp white or elegant gray will work well with Heron, and we can also imagine how great it would look with metallic accents such as a brass vintage chandelier or silver or bronze vases.
