Armchair Explorer Decor
Whether you are traveling or not this summer, armchair explorer decor can take you on a romantic journey every day! This look is also known as travel-inspired decor, but the idea of being an explorer adds a bit more of an adventurous touch, doesn't it?

This living room is a cozy example of decor with an armchair explorer vibe. The vintage map above the sofa, the globe-like piece on the zebra ottaman, and exotic touches like the antique carved corbels flanking the map look like mementos from someone's world travels.
Although this room is completely different in tone - it's much more streamlined with cooler colors - it is also a nice package of armchair explorer decor. Framed maps, an antique globe, suitcases as design accents and a trunk for a coffee table all create a well-traveled mood. See how the round wrought-iron light fixture nicely echoes the shape of the globe.
Travel posters, especially ones with a vintage flavor, are an easy way to create an armchair traveler mood. Mix up the textiles too, like the various patterns on these throw pillows. Indian styles, paisleys, or other ethnic designs quickly evoke the atmosphere of foreign lands. You'll notice that the rugs in each of these rooms all add an exotic splash, drawing on Indian and Moorish designs.
If you want to create the look in your home, this handsome new globe mini-bar from our collection of globe furniture could be a good place to start your journey. The nautical map makes the wooden globe look like an antique used by 18th century explorers, but it actually opens to reveal a hidden drinks cabinet.
A zebra or other wild animal throw pillow or rug conjures up far-flung adventures. Rest assured, no zebras have been harmed in the making of this fine new Aubusson Zebra throw pillow. It is handwoven in 100% wool!
From our selection of new and antique travel trunk furniture, I love this new Jonathan Charles Voyager chest of drawers. The leather and oak chest looks like an antique travel trunk, fully fitted with a removable top tray to store all your small keepsakes. Even the two small drawers and one large lower drawer are lined with vintage style maps. We also sell the matching coffee table, which is just as finely detailed.
