Exploring Antique Furniture and Home Decorating Ideas

Top Antiques and Decor Blog Posts Summer 2014
It's time to look back at our most popular décor and antiques blog posts from the summer. In June and July people are often thinking about garden landscaping and lounging on the patio or deck. That's why we highlighted some new books about outdoor living in our recent bookshelf post. But turning our attention back to indoor décor and antiques, here are some of the posts that got the most hits!
As part of our series of client spotlights, we all enjoyed hearing the story of why Howard C. in Oceanside, NY, bought a set of heavily-carved antique chairs from us. You can read the story about the French Antique Hunting Chairs for yourself, and see more photos of them in Howard's dining room.
Summer inspires dreams of far-flung places and exotic travels. Our post about armchair explorer décor proves that you can take a romantic journey every day, without leaving your own home! A few clever details are often enough to evoke the nostalgic atmosphere of this décor style. Get some inspiration from the rooms and home décor accents in the Armchair Explorer Décor post.
Our customers love eclectic decor and so do we. “I don’t want things that are matchy-matchy,” they tell me. They don’t want Rooms-To-Go! Our post on Eclectic Décor looked at various real-life rooms that really mix different styles of antiques and décor beautifully. It's great to see how folks make unique and personal design statements in their home.
This is the perfect time of year to be thinking ahead to the lighting you'll want in your home when the cozy fall days roll around. Chandeliers always make a gorgeous focal point in a space as well as adding sparkle or warmth. Not all chandeliers have to be glitzy, as you can see from my post on Chandelier Lighting for Every Room and Style. True to its title, the post looks at different chandelier designs that would work in all kinds of different rooms. Some are true vintage chandeliers, others are crafted by contemporary artists. All are sure to add a unique touch to your home!
We hope you enjoyed browsing this round-up of our most popular antiques and décor posts from June and July. Let us know if there is a topic you would like covered in future on this blog. As long as it is about antiques, home décor or living the vintage life, we would love to hear about your ideas!
